There are a lot of great writers who blog and a lot of great bloggers who write about books and writing. Unfortunately, I'm neither. I've written a few things that probably qualify as vaguely bloggy - neatly listed together under the title "vaguely bloggy stuff" below - but it tends to be something I do only under duress. I will try to add more links to interviews, vaguely bloggy stuff, essays, short stories, and other interesting tidbits as they come. Frequently asked questions: Where did you take the author photo for TOUCH? My wife took the photo of me while I was standing in the front yard of my house in Ithaca, NY. Yes, the snow was really that deep. Yes, I was cold. For my author photo for THE LOBSTER KINGS we tried recreating the photo (same pose, jeans and a dark shirt) while I was standing in the ocean. We'll see. When / where do you write? I keep banker's hours and usually work out of my house. Where can I see you read / see you on a panel / take a class with you? See the News & Events page for details on upcoming appearances. I frequently read or lecture at book stores, conferences, universities, and festivals (though I'm taking a bit of a break right now. You might notice my schedule is lighter). As for teaching, one of my favorite things is having somebody come up to me after a panel or a craft lecture and ask me where I teach. Alas, I'm currently writing full-time. To be honest, I miss the classroom and am looking to go back.
